Briner Christian Church Disciples of Christ Mission is to grow in faith and share our faith in God with the world around us. To encourage our members to: keep moving toward a fuller and deeper relastionship with God through Jesus Christ. To be an open door church, actively reaching out and welcoming all persons. We believe that everybody is somebody and no one is a stranger and we are changing lives and impacting the world through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11:1
The Vision of the Briner Christian Church, Disciples of Christ is to become a more Christ centered and Spirit driven church that will express the love of God and communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ to all mankind.
As members of the Christian Church, We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world. In Christ's name and by his grace we accept our mission of witness and service to all people.
We rejoice in God, maker of heaven and earth, and in God’s covenant of love which binds us to God and one another. Through Baptism into Christ we enter into newness of life and we are made one with the whole people of God. In the communion of the Holy Spirit we are joined together in discipleship and in obedience to Christ.
At the table of the Lord we celebrate with thanksgiving the saving acts and presence of Christ. Within the universal church we receive the gift of ministry and the light of scripture. In the bonds of Christian faith we yield ourselves to God that we may serve the One whose Kingdom has no end. Blessing, glory and honor be to God forever. Amen
Founded in 1891, Briner Christian Church (DOC) has a rich legacy of faith, service, and community outreach. Originally located at Dean Swamp Bridge in what was then Berkeley County, South Carolina, the church was established as an outgrowth of Galilee Christian Church in Holly Hill. Through the dedication of faithful members, deacons, and church mothers, Briner Christian Church grew from a small congregation into a strong and enduring ministry.
Throughout its history, the church has been blessed with devoted pastoral leadership. From its early pastors in the late 19th and 20th centuries to more recent shepherds, each leader contributed to the spiritual growth and development of the congregation while strengthening its commitment to Christian service.
Briner Christian Church has long been recognized as a service-oriented congregation, faithfully meeting its obligations to God, its members, and the surrounding community. Guided by prayer, perseverance, and hope, the church has remained steadfast through seasons of growth, transition, and renewal.
In recent years, the church has benefited from the leadership and support of regional ministry partners, interim pastors, and dedicated clergy who helped guide the congregation through periods of restructuring and healing. The ministry continues to be strengthened by faithful servants who provide spiritual leadership as the church prayerfully seeks its next pastor.
Today, Briner Christian Church remains committed to sharing the love of Christ, nurturing spiritual growth, and serving its community while building upon more than a century of faith, fellowship, and Christian witness.
